DCAU Wonder Woman

Design Breakdown 

Based off the design from the DCAU this version of the character wears a two tone body suit, with sliver trim. The pattern had to be broken into 3 separate parts of top, mid section, and bottom. With the silver trim added later on top.

Material

A thicker spandex blend was chosen as the material, as it would give the needed form fitting stretch but also have the durability for long term wear. Spandex presents a new set of challenges; a specific type of stitch is required to allow for the stretch, and because of the slippery nature of the fabric it is easy for the garment to be miss aligned. 

Construction

To ensure everything fit and the design was properly alligned 3 mock garments were constructed before starting the final piece. As perviously stated the pattern was split into three sections. I started by sewing together the blue and red sections before sewing on the silver trim. Then once the front and back of the garment were all in one piece I was able to sew them together to create the final piece. Snaps were used at the bottom of the garment to close it comfortably and easily. 

Lady Loki

Design Breakdown 

There are many different iterations of Lady Loki. This costume was based on many different aspects across the board. The final design of a flowing skirt and off the shoulder corset was settle on to show case the fact that this character is still royality but also to highlight her mischievous nature.

Material

For this costume a crushed satin was chosen as it fit the vision best for the design. This fabric was difficult to work with as it wrinkles easily and frays quickly if not properly hemmed. 

Construction

The skirt construction was the easy part. Two rectangular cuts of fabric were sewn together along the waist line. The corset construction was extremely difficult. It has eight different panels that all needed to be percisely sew together and required boning to hold its shape.
